Driving housing supply and economic growth – Crown land in action
The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment has marked a Territory first, delivering an unprecedented single day release of residential Crown land in Greater Darwin.
On Friday 13 March 2026, a total of 133 new residential lots were titled across 3 Crown land development fronts. These lots were delivered by commercial developers under agreements with the NT Government:
- 52 lots at Zuccoli Aspire
- 49 lots at Northcrest
- 32 lots at Asche (formerly Holtze).
All single residential lots titled on the day had been sold off-the-plan and were ready for transfer to purchasers, demonstrating strong market demand and the department’s central role in supporting housing supply and a growing Territory economy.
Chief Executive Officer, Jo Townsend, said the milestone highlighted the department’s ability to deliver practical outcomes.
'This release demonstrates how we can move quickly and deliver real results for Territorians by keeping our focus on getting land ready and into the market when it’s needed,' Ms Townsend said.
Behind the scenes, the department’s planning, development, survey and Crown land teams work side by side with commercial developers to transform undeveloped Crown land into new residential lots for families, first home buyers and investors purchasing in master‑planned suburbs across the Territory.
From early development applications through to development permits, service authority approvals, survey plans, engineering certification and the final grant of title, departmental teams keep land moving steadily toward market release.
This work relies on close cooperation with Development Assessment Services, the Surveyor‑General’s Office, Crown Land Estate, service authorities and developers.
By maintaining a practical, coordinated approach, the department continues to deliver residential land at pace and respond to housing demand across the Territory.
