DLPE at the Darwin Show
The annual Darwin Show was certainly a busy and jam-packed few days for the department.
Water Resources joined the Environment and Heritage division at a shared stand, with both teams proudly representing their work and connecting with showgoers from across the Territory.
Water Resources staff were on hand to answer questions about the Territory’s water resources, including where Darwin’s water comes from and how it is managed, while the Environment and Heritage team promoted the expanded Container Deposit Scheme in the Territory.
Staff engaged with more than 450 visitors during the show, sharing information, answering questions and talking about our water resources, as well as raising awareness about key initiatives being delivered across the region.
It was a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from members of the community and gain insight into the issues that matter most to them. Water Resources received positive feedback on efforts to protect the Adelaide River while ensuring water remains available to support Darwin’s future growth and economic development.
The expanded Container Deposit Scheme was also well received, with many visitors pleased to learn that eligible beverage containers up to 3 litres are now included in the scheme.
The Darwin Show continues to be a valuable platform for connecting with the community, sharing information and showcasing the important work being undertaken across the Territory.
