Water metering in Marrakai

Published

Water Resources recently collaborated with NT Farmers and HD Pumps for a water meter installation demonstration in Marrakai.

As part of the Darwin Rural Adelaide River Water Control District extension, commercial water users in the Adelaide River Catchment are required to be licensed and bores to be metered.

The requirement for licence holders to report water use assists Water Resources to understand the impact of water use on the resource, how much licensed water has been used and how much is still available.

The day focused on key aspects of water meter installation, selecting the right meter, the setup and meeting licence obligations.

The team talked through how water regulation officers conduct licence inspections and explained the licence conditions that apply to water use and metering in the district.

It was a great opportunity to connect with local growers, answer questions, and support the agricultural community in understanding their obligations. We were pleased with the strong turnout and engagement on the day.

A big thank you to NT Farmers, HD Pumps, and all the farmers who came along and made it such a productive event.
