Regional Weeds Working Groups meet in Tennant Creek and Alice Springs

On 1 and 3 October 2025, members of the Regional Weeds Working Groups (RWWG) for Alice Springs and Tennant Creek regions caught up for their annual meetings.

The working groups discussed activities that contributed to weed management across the Southern region. They included presentations on the progress of the current Regional Weeds Strategies 2021-2026 for both regions and preliminary observations of the effectiveness of the biocontrol of cacti.

Members were updated on the need to start reviewing existing regional weed strategies for Alice Springs and Tennant Creek regions to ensure that revised strategies will be in place by 2027. Overall, the RWWG expressed satisfaction with the current progress and agreed to meet between March and April 2026 to review the progress of the revised weed management strategies.
