Operation: Don’t Be A Dumper enters its next phase: Crimson Camera
The fight against illegal dumping in the Alice Springs is stepping up a gear. Operation: Don’t Be A Dumper (DBAD) is moving into its next phase, following the strategic direction set out in Output 5 (Prevention and Deterrence).
Code-named Crimson Camera, this next stage of DBAD will see an intensive camera surveillance blitz rolled out across dumping hotspots identified in the Output 2 mapping PDF (5.6 MB), along with any problem areas as they develop. These camera traps are designed to catch offenders in the act, strengthen evidence gathering, and send a strong message: the chances of dumpers getting caught red-handed have never been higher.
Illegal dumping is a crime with serious consequences. Offenders face substantial fines and, in severe cases, prison sentences of up to five years.
Crimson Camera aims to help deter would-be illegal dumpers through a mix of rapid enforcement and public awareness. This blitz reinforces the DBAD campaign’s commitment to protecting our environment.
Don’t get snapped by the Crimson Camera!
