National Science Week: WMB debuts at Jingili Primary School science expo

Published

As part of the National Science Week initiative, the Weed Management Branch (WMB) joined the 13th Jingili Primary School Science Expo on 31 July, marking its first appearance at the school event.

WMB’s Gerald Danao launched the expo with an engaging talk on the environmental importance of weeds and the Northern Territory’s Integrated Weed Management program.

Through interactive props and lively discussion, students explored how weeds affect ecosystems and why managing them is essential.

The gamba grass frisbees sparked smiles among the kids, adding a fun and memorable touch to the learning experience.

Gerald noted that engaging with kids is much like engaging adults; it takes sincerity and finding a relatable common ground to truly capture attention and spark meaningful dialogue.

The students’ attentiveness was phenomenal, and WMB looks forward to continuing its outreach efforts.
