Highlighting Water Resources staff

Published

Water Resources Division is celebrating 70 years highlighting and acknowledging staff for their hard work and contribution to water management.

Martin Loipersberger is a Senior Hydrologist with the Water Assessment team, specialising in surface water. His role focuses on using river flow data to assess resource potential for water allocation plans, ensuring the Territory’s water resources are managed sustainably.

With a background in engineering and science, Martin brings technical expertise to his work, particularly in flow modelling. A career highlight has been contributing to the development of the flow understanding that underpins the Adelaide River Water Allocation Plan.

Martin says he loves working in the Territory because it makes him feel like'a part of nature.' His guiding philosophy is simple: 'Be consistent, then get better.'

Hannah Groves is the Acting Manager of Groundwater Assessment in the Water Assessment team. She leads a group of scientific professionals specialising in hydrogeology, delivering groundwater assessment projects and research to improve understanding of the Territory’s water resources.

Hannah also provides technical advice to government, stakeholders, and the community.

With almost 10 years of experience in hydrogeology and environmental science, and a Master of Science in Hydrogeology, Hannah brings strong expertise to her role.

One of her proudest achievements has been completing the first stage of the Upper King River Managed Aquifer Recharge Investigation, a collaborative project with CSIRO and Flinders University that explored opportunities for water security in the Katherine region.

Hannah says she loves 'the wildness of the Territory' and believes that 'kindness goes a long way.'

The division has approximately 80 staff who all play a vital role in what we do with a diversity of positions ranging from drillers to engineers and data officers to regulators.
