Alice Springs show wrap-up: showcasing water knowledge at the Alice Springs show

Published

With big crowds and even bigger conversations, the Alice Springs show was a rewarding couple of days for the Water Resources team.

Water Resources staff were at the Alice Springs show chatting with locals, sharing resources, and answering a wide range of questions. The level of engagement was high across both days, with plenty of genuine interest from the community.

There was information about the Alice Springs and Ti Tree State of the Water Resource reports, along with ‘Know Your Bore’ campaign flyers announced by the minister on the morning of the show.

The Alice Springs and Western Davenport banners proved to be a great talking point and offered a clear and engaging visual of the water resource management zones, prompting many to come in for a closer look and further discussion.

Missy Frey and Jessica Argent from the water engagement team were supported by our Hydrogeologists, Eric Rooke and James Ohanga, who provided invaluable scientific expertise and allowed curious show attendees to dig deeper into technical conversations and provide accurate on-the-spot information.

Alongside our team, Michael Aagaard and Comfort Ncube from the Environment Division were sharing important information on illegal dumping. Their presence helped broaden the conversation and brought even more value to the community engagement on the day.

The Chief Minister stopped by for a friendly chat and took great interest in the geological core samples on display, sparking some thoughtful conversation around local water sources. The Minister for Water Resources also dropped in with his family to take a closer look at the campaign materials being shared with the public.

Our Water Resources merchandise was a massive hit, every single item was taken. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, ask questions, or grab some resources.
