Weed Management Branch showcases sustainable solutions at George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens Open Day 2024!
The Weed Management Branch (WMB) took the stage at the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens Open Day on Sunday, 26 May 2024, captivating a diverse audience with their knowledge and dedication to integrated weed management.
For several years, WMB has been a pivotal participant in the event, consistently providing valuable insights and resources to the public. This year, they showcased a variety of weed samples for visitors to see and touch, and distributed informative brochures that detailed the most pressing weed issues affecting the Northern Territory. Engaging directly with visitors, the WMB's representatives offered expert advice on identifying economically and environmentally significant invasive weeds, the benefits of biological control methods, and the importance of an integrated approach to weed management.
The event saw a remarkable turnout at the WMB booth, drawing farm owners, backyard and professional gardeners, ecologists, fellow weed managers, and many children, all eager to learn more about sustainable weed management practices, and received a free WMB frisbee.
