1. About the app
Weed ID Deck NT ("the App") is a free mobile reference application published by the Northern Territory Government, Weed Management Branch ("we", "us", “our”). It is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The app is based on the Northern Territory Weed ID Deck, 3rd Edition (2021), updated May 2026, and is designed to assist landholders, land managers, rangers and the general public with identifying declared weed species in the Northern Territory of Australia and understanding recommended management methods.
By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to be bound by these Terms of use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Permitted use
You may use the app for personal, non-commercial reference and information purposes, or for use within your organisation for non-commercial purposes, provided that:
- Appropriate acknowledgement is made to the Northern Territory Government, Weed Management Branch; and
- The information obtained from the app is not altered or misrepresented.
You must not make any other use of the app or its content (including copying, reproducing, or distributing it in any form) without obtaining prior written permission from the Weed Management Branch.
3. Disclaimer of accuracy and currency
The app is made available for information purposes only. While we have taken reasonable care to ensure that the information is accurate and current at the time of publication, we give no warranty or assurance and make no representation that:
- the information is complete, accurate, or up to date;
- the information is suitable for your intended use or purpose;
- weed species information, distribution data, or control recommendations are consistent with the most current edition of the Northern Territory Weed Management Handbook.
Information may change over time. You remain responsible for satisfying yourself as to the accuracy, completeness, and currency of any information you rely upon from the app. For definitive and up-to-date information, refer to the Northern Territory Weed Management Handbook and contact the Weed Management Branch if you have any further questions.
4. Chemical use warning
Important — Herbicide and Chemical Information:
Users of agricultural or veterinary chemical products must always read the approved label and any Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) Permit before using any product, and must strictly comply with the directions on the label and any conditions on the Permit.
Users are not absolved from compliance with label directions or Permit conditions by reason of any statement made in or omission from this App or its underlying publication.
Treatment time intensity values shown in the app (The darker the box, the more suitable that period is for weed treatment) should be verified against the current NT Weed Management Handbook. Some species marked "REPORT IMMEDIATELY" have no treatment calendar as they require specialist response.
Poisoning emergency: If you suspect poisoning, contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 (24 hours) and/or call an ambulance.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Northern Territory Government:
- accepts no liability (including liability for negligence) for any loss or damage (including consequential or indirect loss or damage) that may be incurred as a result of any person's use of, or reliance on, information contained in the app;
- makes no warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components;
- is not liable for any failure to update app content within any particular timeframe.
6. Reporting weeds
Species in the app marked "REPORT IMMEDIATELY" may be a declared Class A or B weed or an alert species. If you believe you have found such a species, do not attempt treatment. Contact the Weed Management Branch immediately before taking any action:

8. Apple App Store — Additional terms
If you downloaded the app via the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms of Use are between you and the Northern Territory Government only, not Apple Inc.
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content and has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App.
- In the event the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App, including product liability, legal or regulatory requirements, or consumer protection claims.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms of Use, and upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
- You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
9. Google Play — Additional terms
If you downloaded the app via the Google Play Store, your use is also subject to Google's Google Play Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between these Terms of use and Google's terms, these Terms of use govern to the extent permitted by Google's policies.
10. App updates
We may from time to time issue updated versions of the app or its underlying dataset. You are encouraged to keep the app updated to receive the most current weed species data and application improvements. Continued use of the app following an update constitutes acceptance of any revised Terms of use.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to discontinue the app or any feature of the App at any time without notice. These terms survive any termination of the app or your use of it.
12. Governing law
These Terms of use are governed by the laws of the Northern Territory of Australia. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Northern Territory of Australia.
