EPBC Act reforms: Overview for NT stakeholders
Australia’s national environmental law, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, is being updated.
These changes aim to improve environmental protection while making approval processes clearer, faster and more consistent.
For the Northern Territory, most projects will continue to be assessed under NT legislation, with some projects also requiring Commonwealth approval.
